I went to the Texas Tech vs A&M game a couple of weekends ago and what a game that was. Being a Lubbock resident I of course was rooting for the home team but to no avail. I could go on  and on about that game but I won't because that is not what this post is about. The photo below is. Bask in the fiery sunset.

Jones Stadium 10/8/2011

This picture is an example of one of those occurrences when you are able to capture exactly what you had pictured in your head. I am proud of this photo not only because of the timing (the sky did not stay like that for long) but because this is my first attempt at a panoramic High Dynamic Range (HDR) photo and it was all handheld. Im a tripod guy, and since the stadium does not allow tripods i had to make due. This picture actually consists of 9 photographs merged together. I had a sweep of three (one left, one middle, one right) and for those of your who do not know what HDR actually means, it is essentially a way of recreating the dynamic range of light that the human eye can see with our much less dynamic camera sensors by combining multiple exposures of the same scene. So for each photo i took (left, middle, front) i actually took three exposures and combined them together to get this end result.

I have been wanting to upgrade to a full frame Canon for quite some time now and i think that leap is going to happen soon. I currently own a Pentax K20D and have actually been very happy with the Pentax brand. However since they don't make a Full Frame Camera im looking to Canon and have decided on the first generation 1Ds. The pixel count is lower than my current camera, however the larger sensor should make up for the difference.

    Bio

My name is Paul and I currently live in Lubbock, Tx. I enjoy playing Paintball, Cycling,     anything involving electronics, and Photography to name a few.

My interest in photography actually stemmed from an interest in videography. At an early age i would make home videos featuring exploding hotwheels, primitive horror films and even the more adventurous videos of my friends and i bombing hills on longboards and home made street luges. It was when i started dabbling in stop motion videography that i became interested in photography. I started out with my mother's point and shoot, yet i felt like there was so much untapped potential unachievable with her camera that i decided rather quickly that i needed a better one. By this time i had a job and after a couple of months got myself a bigger better camera. I joined a camera club in high school and a few years after graduating i got my hands on a Pentax DSLR. Pentax really appealed to me because of the enormous amount of compatibility with older, less expensive lenses.

Photography has been a part of my life for about 7 years now, although it has been a serious passion for only about 2-4 years on and off.
